Knypersley Res.

An early start at Knypersley, on a very frosty Monday morning!!

The Wirral. Take Two!

Well cannot get enough of my early Christmas Presents, just a few more shots taken on the Wirral, still getting to grips with new lens but hopefully it will get better.

The Wirral.

What a frosty start but with the promise of clear skies and sunshine, we headed for the Wirral, not been able to visit since April, so it was a great treat, although the Tradition of family Sunday Lunch when all off work, meant we were back earlier than we would have liked, when we joined the M6 however we were met by stationary traffic, which was not good for Dearly Beloved's blood pressure!!! I was pleased with the shots I got with my new camera and lens, now using Canon 40D body and Sigma 150-500mm lens. A few of which are posted below, more to follow.

Knypersley Reservoir and Marsh Hill.

Called into Knypersley but not much about except for the Mallards and the Gulls, but wanted to try out my new lens, went onto Marsh Hill only half a mile up the road and found a very accommodating Wheatear skiping along the dry stone wall, pity there was no Sunshine, to show her off to her best.

Sunset at Hunstanton.

Had three main aims to acheive while there:-
1. Find and take Bearded Tits (check)
2. Find and take shot of a Barn Owl (check)
3. See, enjoy and photograph a Sunset. Oh well thought two out of three not bad, until day five came along, watched the weather all day, not sure if it would last, with the sun going very hazey at times, but it did last long enough to get a few shots, although too much cloud to see it melt into the sea, oh well will just have to go back for another visit.... not a hardship at all. Although had Dearly Beloved at my side, with a camera each and clicking away like mad things, kind of missed the romance of the moment, oh well can't have everything I suppose!!!!

New Arrival at Westport Lake.

When the news first came through that the Brent Goose was present at Westport Lake, I was unable to accompany Dearly Beloved, (Harvesting Allotment produce and Vet's appointment), so when he returned for a quick lunch, we decided to return in the hopes I could get at least a record shot, but low and behold not only was it still present but out came the sunshine, how lucky was that and although still a little bemused by all the coming and going's and being dive bombed by some of the Gulls, it came in close enough for the shot's you see below. Still don't have my new lens so these taken with the 28-300mm Tamron.

Day Seven.

Should have been heading home straight after breakfast, but weather too good to miss, has to be the best day so far, and so glad we did as the better shots of the Bearded Tit's and to see the Barred Warbler has to be the highlight of the trip, can't wait for our next trip down, all photo's this week have been taken with a Canon 40D body and a very old Tamron 28-300 mm lens.

Day Six of Norfolk Trip!

Day six not the best of Weather very dull, but at least no rain, did the rounds of the Coastal Harbours, best of which are below, took a good while to get close enough to the Little Egret, pleased with the Turnstone and spotted a couple of Dunlin too far off but managed to catch one at the front of the Turnstone's in flight closely followed by the Ringed Plover.

Day Five

What a start to the best day yet, the Wryneck still on Hunstanton Cliff's, as we knew where he frequented after watching him earlier in the week, that's were we decided to start, took him a good while to wake up and stood for a good hour before he appeared, but a lot of the time not out of the shrubbery, on then to check out the Harbours for waders on the way down to Cley Beach, to hopefully find the Lapland and Snow Bunting's we missed earlier in the week, through me spending too much time transfixed by the Bearded Tit's (dearly beloved not a happy bunny about that one!)but luckily they were still there. Finished the day with the Grey Phalarope at Titchwell RSPB reserve, decided to call it a day around 7pm and after spending most of the day in Pete Walkden's company, we met again at the Life Boat Inn Thornham, for a well earned meal and a few Bevies!!! can well recommend this watering hole, Good food and Good company you cannot beat!!
